11 REASONS WHY


Jesus attended worship services regularly with others in the synagogue.


"When he came to the village of Nazareth, His neighborhood  home, He went as usual to the Synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the scriptures" Luke 4:16


 "Jesus and His companions went to the town of Capernaum.  When the Sabbath day came, He went into the synagogue and began to teach" Mark 1:21


The early believers regularly met in the temple.


"They worshiped together at the Temple each day" Acts 2:46


"Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.  And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch.  So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the Church and taught a great many people.  And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch"  Acts 11:25-26


It is an act of obedience.


"Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds.  You should not stay away from the Church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other". Heb 10:24-25 (WCV)


To publicly declare our love for God.


"I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord" Psalm 122:1


"I will praise your name among your assembled people" Psalm 22:22


To be equipped for the work of the ministry.


"And He himself gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists and some Pastors and Teachers for the equipping  of the saints for the work of this ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ" Eph 4:11-12


To Fellowship with other Christians


"If we walk in the light as He is the light, we have fellowship with one another...." 1 John 1:7


"Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to       dwell together in unity" Psalm 133:1


To receive ministry from God's ordained servants.


"Another thing to remember is that no one can be a high priest just because he wants to be.  He has to be called by God himself for this work in the same way God chose Aaron" Heb 5:4


"They went to Moses and Aaron and said - we have had enough of your presumption; you are no better than anyone else, everyone in Israel has been chosen of the Lord and He is with us all.  What right do you have to put yourselves forward claiming that we must obey you, and acting as though you were greater than anyone else among all these people of the Lord?"  Num 16:3


"....the ground suddenly split open beneath them and a great fissure swallowed them up, along with their tents and families and the friends who were standing with them, and everything  they owned"  Num 16:31-32


"And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding".  Jer 3:15


For spiritual growth ,development and edification.


"....Be sure that you feed and shepherd God's flock - His Church, purchased with His blood".  Acts 21:28


"So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" Rom 10:17


To exercise, develop and benefit from the gifts within the body of Christ.


"When you meet together some will sing, another will teach, or tell some special information God has given him, or speak in an unknown language, or tell what someone else is saying who is speaking in the unknown language, but everything that is done must be useful to build them up in the Lord' 1Cor 14:26


"God has given each of you some special abilities, be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to other God's many kinds of blessings" 1 Peter 4:10


To combine our spiritual strength in prayer


"Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you, ten thousand"!  Lev 26:8


"...If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask for, my Father in heaven will do it for you"  Matt 18:19


To  make ourselves accountable to spiritual leadership.


"Obey your spiritual leaders and be willing to do what they say.  For their work is to watch over your souls and God will judge them on how well they do this.  Give them reason to report joyfully about you to the Lord and not with sorrow for then you will suffer for it too"  Heb 13:17
